What made you decide to go to college? I am a 1st generation college student. I knew that college was the only way to attain a career that would set me for life and not just for a few months. Although it is possible to get a good job without a college degree, it is much harder.

Sample of College Classes:
Business Law
Leadership Issues
Portuguese Literature
Accounting

College Life: A Typical Day

  1. Wake up early to go to class at 8:00 a.m.
  2. Attend class
  3. Go to the library to study
  4. Go to work
  5. Return to library
  6. Attend student club meetings
  7. Go home, study, watch TV, and have dinner at 6:00 p.m.

How did you pick your college? I knew that it had a good reputation as a great university. Since it is a public school, it was not as expensive as a private university. I wanted to go to a big city to learn to be more independent. I wanted to explore a place other than my hometown.

How did you decide on your major? I was interested in business because my family is involved in a small business. I chose accounting because of the great program at my school.

What did you do to prepare for college? I applied for many scholarships and took honors courses. I was involved in several community service projects and business organizations in high school.
