TEEN LATINITAS (AUSTIN)
TEEN LATINITAS is the newest addition to the Latinitas programming lineup. Similar to the former Latinitas teen program known as the Teen Reporter Internship Program, Teen Latinitas will focus on bringing media and technology opportunities to teens. Throughout this series, the girls will be able to build a multimedia portfolio including video, photo and service learning experiences. All workshops will be lead by a professional in the field.
March 2nd | Come learn about Film Production!
10:30am-12:30pm Come Learn about using film to tell a dramatic story! The
meeting will start with a brief overview of the basics of
filmmaking and continue on with hands on production!
March 14th | Come Volunteer and Have Fun!
10:30am-4pm Come join the Latinitas Spring Break Camp by assisting in
leading activities then going on location to SXSW for “on the
street” interviews with younger girls. This is a great opportunity
to gain community service hours while having fun!
May 4th | Explore and Learn Photography!
10:30am-12:30pm Explore the East Side of Austin on this Teen Latinitas photo field
trip. You will have the opportunity to get real photography
experience with a local female photographer!

CHICAS ADVANCING IN MEDIA PROJECT
(EL PASO, TX) Teen girls interested in learning how to express themselves creatively through photography, creative writing, art, audio production and film are invited to join Chicas Advancing in Media Project. This multimedia training program is for high school girls with a focus on creative multimedia expression. Girls will learn about self-expression through writing, photography, filmmaking, audio production, blogging and more. Our team will complete service projects to make an impact using media. Our team members will also write articles and create multimedia projects for publication in LatinitasMagazine.org. TEEN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

Teens are invited to discover their leadership talents through our semester-long leadership institute. Teen Leadership Institute is geared toward teen girls 13 and up interested in developing their leadership potential and becoming a strong voice for their community. The workshops focus on helping girls learn about civic engagement, develop leadership techniques, explore social justice topics, connect with community leaders and organize volunteer projects. Calling all aspiring female journalists. Latinitas is hosting a week-long spring break camp for high school girls with intensive instruction from media producers and university professionals. During the camp, you will complete an article, photo essay, audio segment and a video broadcast. As part of the camp, your work will be published on LatinitasMagazine.org. Our Latina “word weavers” will get the experience they need as our future leaders of America by becoming involved with the Youth Editorial Advisory Board (YEAB). Are you a Latina living abroad? Not a problem! We want to hear YOUR voice as a Latina. Don’t be shy and apply! Young Latinas who are self-motivated and want to develop their writing and multimedia skills are invited to apply.
