Latinitas Multimedia Arts Summer Camp Encourages Multimedia Expression Among Teen Girls
WHAT: Media training program for local girls
WHEN: July 9-13 and July 16-20
Multimedia Arts Camp for grades 4th through 8th from 9:30 am- 5:00 pm

Teen Academy for grades 8th through 12th from 12:00 pm- 5:00 pm

WHO: Multimedia Arts Camp geared for local pre-teen and teen girls, hosted by Latinitas, non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment and advancement of Latina youth.
WHY: Latinitas is aimed at empowering local girls to build confidence through the media, technology and communication. Through a week-long summer camp, Latinitas offers a series of field trips, guest speakers and hands-on media production training where pre-teen and teen girls are able to express themselves creatively by taking pictures, creating art work, writing poetry, designing fashion and producing short films.

MULTIMEDIA ARTS SUMMER CAMP – Photography & Visual Art Camp – July 9-13 from 9:30-5:00pm
This camp is focused on encouraging girls to build confidence and express themselves creatively through photography, fashion and visual arts. Girls will have a chance to create their own photo essays, clay ceramics, paintings, drawings, fashion designs and jewelry. Field trips include visiting an art museum, taking an outdoor photography field trip and touring a photo studio. This camp is open to girls ages 9 to 13.
TEEN MEDIA ACADEMY – July 9-13 from 12:00-5:00pm
This camp is focused on encouraging girls to build confidence and express themselves creatively through multimedia expression.  The program will including sessions on creating original media projects like newscasts, video documentaries, blogs, audio podcasts, and photography documentaries.  Field trips will include local media stations, community events and cultural centers. This camp is open to girls ages 13 and up.
MULTIMEDIA ARTS SUMMER CAMP – Video & Performance Art Camp – July 16-20 from 9:30-5:00pm

This camp is focused on encouraging girls to build confidence and express themselves creatively through filmmaking, dance, acting, modeling and performance arts. In this camp, girls will get tips on how to model, act in a short film, star in a music video, create a video documentary, meet professional actors and dancers, make a talk show and create a dance routine.  Field trips include visiting a TV station and a music recording studio. This camp is open to girls ages 9 to 13.

TEEN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY – July 16-20 from 12:00-5:00pm

This camp is focused on encouraging girls to build confidence, express themselves and develop strong communication and leadership skills to make an impact in their community. In this program, teens will meet female leaders to learn how you can become a strong voice for their community. The workshop is open to teen girls ages 13 and up interested in developing their leadership potential. Sessions will focus on topics such as civic engagement, communication skills, volunteering and, leadership techniques as girls learn how to use media as a tool for social justice and advocacy.
