Photographs are a glimpse of what may lie deep in the soul of a landscape, a seemingly everyday situation or a person. Good ones grab us by the imagination, they make us question, dream, think.  Perhaps that is why Fotos de mi Alma, a photographic odyssey capturing Latino life through the lenses of professional and amateur photographers is our most successful fundraiser for Latinitas.  This year Latinitas welcomes international photographer Diego Huerto, whose photo-documentary series 31K Portraits of Peace puts the lens on Mexico’s majesty.  Diego makes the ordinary extraordinary and will be present at the event and honored a the event by Latinitas.  Our key note is writer/director/producer Carmen Marron, whose film “Endgame” hits theaters in May 2015 starring Rico Rodriguez of “Modern Family” fame.  Marron’s films spotlight the beauty and authenticity of what it means to be an American Latino and a youth.  Originally a guidance counselor, Marron wanted a bigger platform to help young Latinos feel good about themselves, set goals and succeed. Movie-making for her is a dynamic platform to do this.  She will address event goers and share her experience navigating Hollywood as a successful Latina.  Fotos de mi Alma will be sponsored by Kurant Events catering and Glazer’s Spirits.

The Butterfly Effect Mother’s Day Celebration will be held on May 9. The event features lunch, spa day booths, live entertainment performances, a fashion show, inspirational guest speakers, tea party, games for girls and a silent auction. Our fundraiser is targeted towards local women leaders and designed to showcase female talent in El Paso as well as the young girls we serve. The funds generated from the event support our scholarship campaign. Sponsorship and booth opportunities are available. We gladly accept donations of silent auction items and door prizes. With every gift, we ensure more girls in El Paso are connected with valuable programs and mentors that motivate, educate and inspire them.
