In its 6th year, Latinitas Fotos de mi Alma photography auction in Austin, TX, currently brings in some of the hippest of the hip in contemporary photography from Tehran to Tallahassee. A photographic odyssey capturing Latino life through the lenses of professional and amateur photographers. The talent donating to Fotos de mi Alma comes from every corner of the globe and patrons are getting an opportunity of a lifetime to purchase international-calibur and award-winning photography for auction prices. 25-30 photographers are chosen from an elite group of selectees. Photographers include Colombiana Claudia Calle, Athens, GA filmmaker Josh Meltzer, Mexico City’s Dulce Pinzon, Tehran’s Ramin Samandari, Grammy award-winner Fritz Torres and Austin’s own KXAN-TV photographer Charlie Harper, gallery-owner Leslie Nowlin, Founder of Kaleidoscope of Color Skip Hunt, Austin American Statesman photographer Deborah Cannon and Mexic-Arte featured photographer Diego Huerta are spotlighting new Latino narratives, through pictures, abstraction and just pure beautiful photography. Tickets are $15 ahead, $20 at the door and can be purchased online. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served at the event. Sponsorship packages available online.

Fashionistas are teaming together to host a charity girl empowerment fashion show featuring clothing for girls, teens and women on March 25th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Always & Forever Ballroom (3333 N. Yarbrough). Guests will enjoy a fashion show of clothing from Dillard’s, Modas Carolinas, MiSogno and Klothes Lime Boutique, listen to live music by Amalia Castro and Candace Martinez, watch a video documentary screening, view an exhibit of youth artwork, dance performance by Viva El Paso Ballet Folklorico team, and hear from an inspirational speech by UTEP Professor Dr. Irasema Coronado. This fashion show is held in partnership with El Paso Fashion Week. Our family-friendly fashion show is designed to showcase female talent in El Paso and to benefit local girl empowerment programs aimed at helping girls build confidence to succeed. Tiara Tuesday is the ultimate ladies’ night out. It’s an excellent opportunity for local women and their friends to get together, have fun, feel pampered and support the community at the same time. Tiara Tuesday will be held on Tuesday, November 1st at 5:30 p.m. at Mesa Street Bar & Grill (2525 N. Mesa Street) to benefit Latinitas. It’s a happy hour for women with the theme of martinis and manicures, but anyone can participate. A $10.00 donation at the door covers a Tiara Tuesday specialty drink and a manicure by the talented nail technicians from Tri-State Cosmetology Institute. All proceeds support Latinitas, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering local girls to build confidence through creative expression.
