This summer, local girls have an opportunity to get a taste of what their life could be like as a multimedia maker. Girls ages 9-14 can become a movie star, a news anchor, a photographer, a radio dj, a magazine writer, a poet, a graphic designer and more in Latinitas multimedia art classes. Through intense summer classes, girls can find their creative expression outlet by producing original media arts projects. The Latinitas multimedia arts classes are led by a team of women educators, role models and mentors experienced in guiding girls in hands on lessons, interactive presentations, team challenges, and fun games that address girl issues and encourage self-esteem, expression, confidence and empowerment. Girls will produce original multimedia arts projects and master techniques in photography, writing, design, radio production and filmmaking. Multimedia arts classes are $40 for four half days (early bird) or $50 late registration. Girls can sign up for a morning class from 8:30am-12:30pm and an afternoon class from 1:30pm-5:30pm. Discounts are available for registering for more days and for registering siblings groups. The fee cover supplies, instruction and equipment. The program runs Monday-Thursday. Teen Media Academy

Local teens are invited to discover how they can change the world through multimedia arts & technology. Girls ages 14-18 will engage in video making, blogging, photography, podcasting, and other activities to get their media message out to the world. Aside from these fun activities, participants will take field trips to local media stations and professioal women in various media industries will be presenting a career panel to empower teens. With presentations from local media makers as well as hands-on media production, teens will discover their voice and build leadership skills as they produce multimedia arts projects about issues they care about to make a difference. The Teen Media academy takes places Monday through Thursday from 12-5pm at 10921 Pellicano #120. Each academy cost $25 per week ( early bird ) and $30 late registration. Discounts are available for registering now 2 weeks $40 for both weeks.

SUMMER TEEN MEDIA INTERNS is recruiting teen writers ages 14-18 who would like to write articles for our magazine. Teen media interns will take photos, write articles, design graphics, make videos and create blogs. Teens are asked to commit to at least 10 hours a week for 8 weeks during the summer (80 minimum). Teen girls are invited to discover their leadership talents and make a difference in volunteering as peer camp leaders. Join our team focused on leadership, community service and sisterhood. Attend our training to become prepared as a peer leader. Summer Camp youth leaders will aid with activity planning, assist our summer camp activities, serve as mentors for girls, guide small team activities and lead icebreakers and teambuilders.  To sign up to volunteer, complete our online application at:


Latinitas is a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment and advancement of Latina youth through media, art, culture and technology. This grassroots coalition of women leaders provides media enrichment programs focused on helping Latina girls build confidence through media and creative expression. Girls in our programs publish, the first digital magazine by and for Latina youth.
