LATINITAS SPECIAL EVENTS
Latinitas Volunteer Orientation
Wednesday, November 6 & November 20 from 5:30-6:30pm at Latinitas (10935 Ben Crenshaw).
Latinitas will host a volunteer orientation for new volunteers. The orientation will provide information about Latinitas and how to become involved in helping Latinitas with the various projects including girl empowerment programs, Alliance for Latinitas and the editorial and multimedia team. Creative Expression Camps
*Monthly Saturday Camp – Every 2nd Saturday of the month.
November 9th, 12:30- 2:30pm at Judge Marquez Library (610 N. Yarbrough).
Latinitas hosts a series of creative expression workshops throughout the semester. Volunteers are needed to serve as mentors and help guide girls in grades 4-8th with hands-on media arts activities. If you are interested in helping, please email email@example.com or call 915.282.5639.
Healthy Chica Spa & Wellness Workshops
Mother & Daughter Session
Saturdays, November 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 11:30am-1:00pm at Latinitas Headquarters (10935 Ben Crenshaw #207, El Paso, TX 79935).
Girls and moms are invited to join us for health & wellness workshops. Relax and rejuvenate with fun activities like yoga and zumba, and discussions on nutrition, confidence, teen development, fitness and ways to de-stress. Volunteers are needed to help with the activities, aid our presenters, serve as chaperones for the girls, provide transportation and act as mentors. Be YOUnique Workshop
Monday, November 18th from 5:00-6:30 pm at Alvarez Apartments Community Center (8247 N Loop Dr, El Paso, TX 79907).
Girls are invited to join us for a day of girl power to foster a positive body image and learn about media literacy. The event features hands-on workshops on self-esteem, confidence, media literacy, body image, nutrition and wellness.. Volunteers are needed to assist in the workshop by serving as mentors, aiding speakers and working one on one with the girls. Volunteers are also needed to provide transportation. Aim High Conference
Saturday, December 7 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Main Public Library Downtown (501 N. Oregon).
The Aim High Conference is geared toward encouraging pre-teen and teen girls to aim high by setting high goals for themselves, achieving in academic realms and exploring professional opportunities for their future success. Pre-teen and teen girls are invited to explore their future careers at the Aim High Conference hosted by Latinitas in partnership with the American Association of University Women. Aim High features unique hands-on workshops, activities and inspiring guest speakers. Volunteers are needed to help with the activities, aid our presenters, serve as chaperones for the girls, and act as mentors. NOMINATE A LATINA LEADER FOR THE LATINA LIST-
Nominate a candidate for the Mujeres Making a Difference Award 2013.
The Latina List is accepting nominations of Latina leaders who are making an impact in the border community of the greater El Paso area. The Mujeres Making a Difference Awards give well-deserved recognition to Hispanic women who have made significant contributions to the empowerment and well being of the El Paso community. Latinitas, El Paso’s leading Hispanic young women’s empowerment organization, will recognize the leadership achievements of Hispanic women who have served the El Paso Community. Leaders will be awarded for their achievements within their respective professions and service to the community. The Mujeres Making a Difference Awards Luncheon will be held on February 7, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Woman’s Club of El Paso with proceeds supporting scholarships for the next generation of Latina youth leaders.
